When my wife and I married, we had very little to start with, and our individual experiences with money while growing up was very different. Based on how people cut and run from a marriage at the first sign of a problem, our divergent financial backgrounds should have lead to divorce many years ago, but we recognized money as a major potential threat. Fortunately, we figured out how to solve the problem early on. It was called budgeting!
From the day we were married, we worked hard to develop a money management system to take the stress out of being financially tight, and yet not create a financial straight jacket that would take all the fun out of life.
So how did we do? Here we are over 43 years later, still not in the Fortune 500 but comfortable, having met all of the Goals. Though we have disagreed about many things, we almost never argued about money as we continue to follow our Lowy budget and money management system to this very day.
Now that I have met my goal to retire, I still wish to keep busy and have elected to share my Personal Money Management System on an hourly fee basis. A typical total engagement costs about the price of a cruise but will provide easy sailing for a lifetime!
